Thoughts about “The Design Studio”

In university, architect students learn something more different from other departments. One of the most significant difference is they have different workspace: design studio. When you look outside, most probably you want to be part of this workspace but  actually get used to design studio is not so easy. And in my opinion, design studio has both positive and negative qualities in itself.

If we talk about positive qualities, we can easily say that design studio contains lots of member and this place open discuss these members works. With this way, people not only have their opinions but also other people’ viewpoints. So, they see their weaknesses and focus on these problems. Also, when people doing something in studio, they learn how to find a best solution for problems in limited time. This is very compelling situation but i believe that if we achieve this goal, this is really helpful for us in whole life.

On the other hand of course design studio has some negative qualities. In early architectural education, there were no studio and they use master/pupil relationship for learning. With studio, every architectural education terminate this method. But in my opinion this is really make no sense. We also need master/pupil relationship. We will learn lots of things through this method. We don't have to imitate our masters action. Even seeing masters viewpoint and behaviour about project is improve our skills about architecture.

All in all, if i want to be an architecture, i should benefit from studio. And i have pleasure being a part of studio. I know that it could not so easy when i encounter very negative evaluation or when i present my project to jury but when i get used to some things in studio, i will handle it.

06 assignment Orthographic Projection

Here is another reason for cancer : Drawing tape dispenser using orthographic projection. I hear that you asking whether is that a prank or not. If you are architecure student, you should get used to this kind of unbelieveable assignment and of course there is no way for prank in architecture studio. Whatever, in this drawing, real proportion was used by me and as you know, sometimes something happened without your control. There are some notes in my drawing which reveals my mistakes and after critics i learn how can I draw with ortographic style. In addition, if you want to learn what ortographic projection means, here comes : orthographic projection (n)   projection of a single view of an object (as a view of the front) onto a drawing surface in which the lines of projection are perpendicular to the drawing surface  And here is my model (tape dispenser) and my drawing :
