4th Year: Beginning of Ending

Definition of time is a thing which people can not make agreement about it. Here comes last year of architecture studio. There are lots of both good and bad memories, juries, days without sleep, model and etc. I think that every labor worth to learn something. There are still two semester to learn and here is the first semesters topic:

EMSALSİZLİK

For this semester, we examine special part of Çukurambar,Ankara. The reason why this site is choosen by the lecturer is about number of mixed use structures and "emsal" issue. Çukurambar is a place which growing rapidly recent times and most of the new building's usage has variety. With emsal issue, how the structures stand on the sites and ratio between site and the constructed site gain different meaning.

First thing which need to do is examining the site and creating main information about site in each way. For that reason there will seperation in studio to work seperately. Me and my group work on Morphology of the site and plan update. Each group also find two examples about mixed use structures in Ankara for Case Study. So lets start!

STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS: KHAN SHATYR

Each structure has its own story. And this is Khan Shatyr's one. For Arch372 lesson we choose a structure and examine its structural details. We find Khan Shatyr as interesting and made research about it. Tension of roof, its durability, materials, technique of construction is quite different from other ones. THE CAVE AND THE SKY: STONE AGE EUROPE When architecture was started is debatable thing. But primitive humans temples can be accept as first architecture buildings. Also plan of the world is another quality in there: caves, rivers, lakes and other things can regarded as architecture. So, we have architecture for so long. OLD STONE AGE ARCHITECTURE Both structures technology and rituel usage of architecture increase rapidly. Neanderthals and cro-magnons start to create some materials in these times.To protect themselves from air conditions, they use fur outside of the structures. Also they negotiate with nature in religion principles. This situation affect hunters directly. Death is a mysterious thing for them and architecture change in the shape of death and religion. Caves become temples for example. And hunters start to use art as a intermediate. Art is a huge significance in there. ARCH 402 : MUSEUM

Library of Alexandria accept as beginning of museum history. Aim of the library is quite simple at that point: try to reach whole written sources and collect them into one place. Approach to library is not only relate with collecting something. Library also use for discover something. Thats why this library surround with arbitarium. Other discoveries, especially math and geography, in library have crucial role for Alexandria city. All of these factors attract philosophers, mathematicians and who interest with art, science and, literature. Participation of important people gain importance to the city and it is possible to say that this situation create cultural war between enemies. Unfortunately, most collections of Alexandria burns in fire and few things transfer to next generations. Collecting something has reach its value with Crusade in Europe.
